Hello world

I've had this .com domain for years, without really doing anything with it (other than pointing to my .dk domain), so why not put it to good use?!

So... What am I doing these days?! Well, I'm trying to get a new version of Handicapguiden.dk off the ground. I am struggling a bit with the design, so things do not move as fast as I want it to, but I'm pretty confident I'll come up with something eventually. I do recognise that I'll probably NOT get the design right the first time, but that's part of the game. During the update process I'm also moving to my own CMS platform. After more than two decades of ASP.NET, I'm back at PHP/MySQL where it all began.

Also, I'm working on expanding the site with a map service, pointing people with disabilities towards the great places to visit on vacations, in their everyday life, etc. To be honest, part of my personal motivation for building this is that I'm pretty I'm tired of dealing with places that doesn't care for people with disabilities at all. I'm turning 50 within forseeable future, and I can tell you things move painfully slow.

Even in 2026, I can still find places like restaurants and hotels that aren't as handicap accessible as they should be. Reason being that the danish law is pretty relaxed when it comes to dealing with everyday handicap topics. No one, at least to my knowledge, has been fined for not making restrooms properly handicap accessible.

BUT... rather than pointing fingers at anyone, I'd rather promote place that does a difference in a positive manner, while disregarding the rest. Who knows - perhaps we can get the businesses to strive for great accessibility ;-)
